Privacy policy

Effective 22 October 2026

Alula is a wellness self-tracking app for women with PCOS. It does not diagnose, treat, or cure any condition. It is not a medical device and it is not medical advice.

This policy covers the Alula iOS app (bundle ID com.alula.ios) and this website.

Who to contact

Ephrem Adugna is responsible for this policy and for support.

Email ephremadugna1219@gmail.com. There is no public postal address.

The iOS app is distributed with the Apple Developer team Yoseph Kassaye (team ID VLN4PWMM26).

What stays on your phone

Skin photos, uploaded documents such as lab PDFs, and an avatar photo stay on the phone. Alula stores those files on the device. It does not upload the image or PDF files.

You can delete a photo or document in the app. Uninstalling the app removes what was stored on that phone.

Website waitlist

If you join the waitlist on this website, we save the email you enter, and whether you joined as someone living with PCOS or as a coach, trainer, or practitioner, in Google Firebase Realtime Database, so we can email you when Alula is on the App Store. This is separate from an app account. We do not use waitlist entries for advertising. To correct or delete a waitlist entry, email ephremadugna1219@gmail.com from that address.

Named links

Some links to this website include a name, such as /go/instagram. Opening one sends that name to the Alula API, which adds one to a count in Google Firebase Realtime Database. If that name has not been seen before, a row is created. The count is only a number for that name. It is not tied to you, an account, or an advertising identifier. The browser then opens the Alula website.

What is saved to your account

After you sign in with Apple, the logs you enter are saved to your account in Google Firebase Realtime Database, under your Firebase sign-in id. That record can include your name, symptoms, cycle notes, check-ins, food logs, doses you already take, reminder settings, and similar structured entries. It can also include the on-device key for a photo or document, not the file itself.

Sign in with Apple may share your name and an email address, or a private relay address. Firebase Authentication keeps the sign-in so you can open the same account again. Google processes this data to provide authentication and the database.

We use the account record to show your journal, supplements log, twin, and insights, and to keep that record with the person who signed in. We do not use it to diagnose you or to recommend a dose. We do not sell it, and we do not use it for advertising.

What we do not collect for the product

Alula does not include its own analytics product. Google may process connection data as part of running Firebase. We do not use that for ads.

Reminders

Dose and check-in reminders are scheduled on the phone. They are not remote push messages. You can turn them off in iOS Settings.

How long we keep it

We keep the account record until you clear it in the app or ask us to delete it. Photos and documents on the phone remain until you delete them, reset the app data, or delete the app. A waitlist email, and the group chosen with it, stay until you ask us to delete them, or until we no longer need them to tell you the app is available.

Deleting your data

In the app, open You and choose Reset all data. That removes the saved account record and the data on that phone, including photos and documents stored on the phone. You stay signed in, and an empty record can be saved again.

Sign out clears Alula’s data on that phone. It leaves the account record in place.

Reset does not delete your Apple ID, and it does not delete the Firebase sign-in user. To ask for the saved account record to be removed, email ephremadugna1219@gmail.com. Choices are also listed on the privacy choices page.

Children

Alula is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly create accounts for children.

Where the account is stored

The account record is stored by Google Firebase. People in any country can email the address above to ask for access, correction, or deletion.
